Judi Moreillon is the author of two professional books for classroom teachers and school librarians: Coteaching Reading Comprehension Strategies in Elementary School Libraries: Maximizing Your Impact (ALA Editions, 2013, a revision of Collaborative Strategies for Teaching Reading Comprehension - ALA Editions, 2007) and Coteaching Reading Comprehension Strategies in Secondary School Libraries: Maximizing Your Impact (ALA Editions, 2012). These books provide background information and sample lesson plans to help educators make a positive impact on K-6 and 6-12 grade students' reading skills. Her books also promote the instructional partner role of school librarians.Judi currently has three published books for children and families. She wrote the poem in Read to Me for Project L.I.F.T., Literacy Involves Families Together. This teen pregnancy program helps young mothers learn that literacy is an important part of nurturing their babies. Kyra Teis's charming illustrations reflect the diversity of families. She wrote Sing Down the Rain to honor the Tohono O'odham children with whom she learned during her first school librarian position at Elvira Elementary School in Tucson. Respected elder Danny Lopez served as the cultural advisor for the book. Tohono O'odham fine artist and illustrator Michael Chiago painted the watercolors that capture the beauty of his culture and the Sonoran Desert. The book will be available again from a different publisher in 2014.Judi's third children's book, Ready and Waiting for You, is illustrated by Catherine Stock (Eerdmans Books for Young Readers, 2013). This book is a celebration of the caring community that welcomes children into the world of schooling. Catherine Stock's precise torn paper illustrations communicate the fun and friendly place of school. The opening doors (of learning) gatefolds are a unique feature of this book.Judi Moreillon is an assistant professor in the School of Library and Information Studies at Texas Woman's University in Denton. In her career in school librarianship, she served at every instructional level, most recently as a 7th-12th grade school librarian in a combined junior high/high school library facility.
