Judith Dickerman-Nelson (1962-) grew up north of Boston and became a mother at age 17. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts in Lowell with a B.A. in English and earned an MFA in writing from Emerson College. For many years, she worked with teen parents as an educator and administrator at the Cambodian Mutual Assistance Association in Lowell, Mass. A widely published poet, she has also taught writing classes at UMass Lowell. She lives in Vermont with her husband, Bill.
