You Can't Buy Happiness But You Can Buy Books!
These books are an all time favorite in our house! They are great for an ELL making the transition from Spanish to English. Keep in mind that these books would be most appropriate for an ELL student who has a more developed English word recognition/vocabulary. I can see an ELL having an opportunity ...

I absolutely LOVE Skippyjon Jones! Probably because I am the proud dog mom of three beautiful Chihuahuas. In Judy Schachner's debut, we meet Skippyjon Jones, a Siamese cat who thinks he is a Chihuahua. Another great book about the great Skippito! My students love the voices and singing and clapping. They get a big kick out of Skippyjon thinking he is a chihuahua!

Granted, I've read them to death since I discovered the first Skippyjon Jones, but the level of poetry and wordplay just isn't consistent through the rest of the series, and none of the other books have even held a candl...

Hm. Well, neither my niece, nephew, or I were all that impressed with this second Skippyjon Jones book. It was ok, certainly, and it was cute as can be (especially the ending), but the kids never got that Bobble-ito was a bobble-head toy. They couldn't figure out what Skippito was doing battle ag...

I *loved* this book! I've had four cats in my life, and this book brought all of them back for me, especially my most beloved. Honestly, this book was so moving and so beautifully written, it almost brought me to tears! The kids liked the story, but they'd have not given it five stars. This book w...
