I wanted to like this so bad. It has been staring at me from the TBR pile for far too long for me to be ok with not especially liking it. I found myself bored at anecdote after anecdote with little to no connection whatsoever to the cooking challenge. I liked reading some of the responses her blog r...

I listened to this book, found out it was abridged, came home and read the physical book from my TBR shelf. The idea of Julie’s blog, and from that this book, is something that I was really on board for. The actualization of the book though was a bit painful. It is very easy to see how Julie’s blog ...

I loved the movie and this book. Thankfully, they are both different creatures. Julie Powell is a charming writer and reading this was a breeze. I heartily recommend this if you have a heart and any interest in cooking.

From Goodreads: In her own words, here is the captivating story of Julia Child’s years in France, where she fell in love with French food and found ‘her true calling.’From the moment the ship docked in Le Havre in the fall of 1948 and Julia watched the well-muscled stevedores unloading the cargo to ...

At first I was very impressed with the book and how determined the young Julie was to complete her goal. But by the last third of the book I was bored.

This was both what I expected and not what I expected based on what I heard about the book when it came out and then again when the movie version came out. I expected it to be about a woman who was a confirmed foodie who loved Julia Child’s cooking and decided to try making all of the recipes in on...

Read more of my reviews at The "Novel" Review. Julie Powell is a twenty-nine year old secretary in New York. She is married to her high school sweetheart, working at a job she hates, and being urged by her doctors to get pregnant as soon as possible. But Julie isn’t sure she’s ready for parenthood...

I loved the filmed, it was amazing. I saw this book at a bookstore and quickly snatched it before anyone else did and bought it. Waste. Of. My. Money. In the film Julie's character was so adorable. What I mean by this is, she was 'pure'. In the book, Julie constantly swore and it was annoying. I und...

Julie Powell is a person I most certainly would not want to meet. The book is not bad at all but Julie Powell comes off as a not very likable person. Her style is witty and entertaining but her whining and her obsession with sexuality didn’t really suit the story. While the whining and I’m-not-good-e...
