This is a review of all the Luther Strode books from one volume This collection brings together all the Luther Strode volumes and I only gave it three stars because it’s all a bit samey. The basic idea is that Luther gains powers, strength, speed and invulnerability, and uses them to fight and def...
I've not read any of the previous volumes of Luther Strode so this came as a new experience for me. Luther Strode is a big muscled strong hero with a gun-toting girlfriend, Petra. They come into conflict with a variety of similar beings in their search for Cain, including the orginal Delilah. A lo...
Hmmm... how to describe this? If you took Men In Black, and sprinkled in a bit of The X-Files, you'd pretty much have this graphic novel story line. I'll grant you the fact that this is only the first volume, but it's a pretty standard start! A secret that needs to be covered up. An elite group of p...
Interesting series from Justin Jordan. Quite a departure from the fantastic Luther Strode series. Can't give this more than 3 stars because it feels like I've read most of this before. Although it does hold the promise of something more which will make it worth reading the next instalment.
I bought this thinking it was another recent horror comic collection, but kept it because it looked interesting. There are many hooks in these stories, but I think it would be more memorable if less people had been included and the volume developed longer, stronger stories. it's hard to be horrifyin...

So, remember what I said about this not being that bad? Well, it is. The fact that a man has twins, and the girl creates Shadowman? Yeah, not what Loa are about. And the last issue didn't work for me. I don't want many short stories. This is such a complex world that it deserves longer s...
But I still am crazy about the story and characterizations. This would be a flat-out five star read if it didn't try to fetishize the loa. Using them at all, using any religion or minority that has been fetishized, is very tricky; it's too easy to fall into the same trap. By making a Loa a su...
The truth is that this isn't too bad: it doesn't stray all that far from what the Loa really are, at least as far as I understand them, but I find it uncomfortable any time someone tries to fit voodoo and Loa into a mostly white world. And Valiant is a compliant world; each series is tied to the o...
I haven't gotten the chance to research Team 7 on the DC Comics Wikia, so my comments are based solely on my experience with them in reading this book. I have to say I was underwhelmed. While it was nice to get some backstory on Amanda Waller, a character I am coming to respect and maybe admire a li...
