Kamran Bokhari is Stratfor's Advisor on Middle Eastern and South Asian Affairs. He is also a fellow with the Washington-based Institute for Social Policy & Understanding, a senior consultant to the World Bank and is pursuing a PhD in Democracy and Islam at the University of Westminster.His areas of specialization include international affairs, security, counterterrorism, comparative political systems, democratization and Islamism, modern Muslim political thought, Islamist movements, and the geopolitics of Islamic world. He has also presented research papers in many international academic and policy forums and has given briefings to various U.S. and Canadian government departments. Mr. Bokhari has published numerous analytical, scholarly and theoretical articles related to the geopolitics of the Islamic world.Mr. Bokhari is the author of Political Islam in the Age of Democratization to be published by Palgrave Macmillan on Dec 18, 2013. He has also contributed chapters to a number of co-edited volumes, including a chapter on Pakistan's Jamaat-i-Islami party in the recently published Oxford Handbook on Islam and Politics.In his 12th year with Stratfor, Mr. Bokhari continues to play a pivotal role in enhancing the firm's intellectual capital on a diverse array of geographical areas: Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Israel and the Palestinian Territories, Syria and Lebanon, the Gulf Cooperation Council and North African states. He has been behind the creation of a system to help understand Islamism and jihadism.
