Turns out I remembered next to nothing of this volume from when I last read it over ten years ago. Go figure. Still liked it though. The story got me in an unexplicably deep and almost maudlin mood. Dare I say my thoughts started spiraling in the way of an existential mini-freakout. Dangerous things...

Captivating. Couldn't put it down, even though it's 3am.

I'm not going to repeat myself for every issue, but this is possibly the best graphic novel series ever written. My first experience was the second issue, which still holds a special place in my heart. Great artwork, deep and philosophical plot lines and the most twisted thing that Gaiman has ever...

When he was invited to write a comic for DC, Neil Gaiman reached deep to write about a little known character, Sandman. Preludes and Nocturnes is the compilation of the first eight issues in which Sandman is captured, eventually breaking free decades later, and then sets out to recover the trappings...

Sometimes words alone cannot contain Neil Gaiman’s creativity. This collection that begins the series of THE SANDMAN is a brilliant start to something magical. The idea alone is a standout, unique concept: to capture death, but end up capturing the dream maker instead. Wow. The story ramps up from t...

I did NOT like this book. Yes, Neil Gaiman is an amazingly original author whom I normally adore and the comic is well-drawn & executed BUT this does not make up for the sickening horror of so much of the book in the style of Palahnuik’s put-this-author-on-anti-psychotic’s Haunted. The only reason ...

Deliciously dark, beautiful art and twisted characters. I've waited so, so long to be able to read this in book form and it really did not disappoint. The Sandman is a complex character, and the "Lord of Dreams" aspect allows for an element of surreality that I often miss in literature, both in comi...

It's quite good, but not brilliant. Interesting characterization and world, but there is a bit of a tonal inconsistency to it. Everyone seems to think that it gets better as it goes along, so at some point in the future I want to read more of it. However, it is not quite good enough for me to do ...

This was definitely creepy and weird. I kind of thought the King of Dreams looked a bit like Neil Gaiman. Not sure if that was on purpose or if he would be offended I thought that. Looking forward to the second volume.
