I wrote and illustrated my first book when I was five and even bound the book myself using thread and a sewing needle. I've long since realized I don't have much talent for illustration, but I've continued to write and edit. So far I've written 43 books--all nonfiction. They've been published by Heinemann Library and Heinemann/Raintree, Scholastic Book Clubs and Book Fairs, National Geographic, the Smithsonian Institute, Greenhaven Press, Lucent Books, and other publishers. Lately I've been focusing more on fiction and am exploring ways to publish my short stories. I have done fiction readings locally at Urban Rethink in Orlando, Florida, and at Maitland Poets and Writers in Maitland, Florida.
