Kate Marsh is an Advanced Accredited Practicing Dietitian and Credentialled Diabetes Educator, with a Masters of Nutrition and Dietetics and PhD in nutrition from the University of Sydney and a Graduate Certificate in Diabetes Education and Management from the University of Technology, Sydney. She is the founder of Northside Nutrition & Dietetics (www.nnd.com.au) the PCOS Health & Nutrition Centre (www.pcoshealth.com.au). Kate works in private practice in Sydney, Australia and has a particular interest in diabetes (predominantly type 1 and gestational diabetes), polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), pre-conception and pregnancy nutrition and vegetarian nutrition. She is currently the convenor of the Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA) National PCOS and Vegetarian Interest Groups and co-convenor of the DAA National Diabetes Interest Group. She has recently been involved in development of evidence-based guidelines for the diagnosis and management of PCOS and type 1 diabetes. Kate is on the editorial advisory group for the ADEA (Australian Diabetes Educators Association) magazine, the editorial board for Diabetic Management Journal, is a board member for Diabetes Counselling Online and is the newsletter editor for the Australian Lifestyle Medicine Association (ALMA). She is a regular contributor to Diabetic Living Magazine and has published articles in a number of medical journals on the topics of PCOS, insulin resistance, glycemic index, diabetes and vegetarian diets.Kate is co-author of The Low GI Guide to Managing PCOS, The Low GI Vegetarian Cookbook, Low GI Gluten-Free Living, and The Bump to Baby Diet and has contributed the dietary chapters to two textbook on PCOS and Obesity. She is a recipient of the DAA Young Achievers Award, was a NSW finalist in the 2006 Telstra Business Women's Awards and was recently awarded the DAA Joan Woodhill Prize for Excellent in Research - Doctorate Award for her PhD study on low GI diets for women with PCOS
