Katharina Born was born 1973 in Berlin. She studied history and comparative literature in Brussels, Washington D.C., Berlin und Paris. She worked as a free lance journalist for different newspapers and radiostations, wrote from Saint Petersburg in Russia, the Krim and Kiev in Ukraine. For her reports and literary criticism she received several awards and grants. Since 2003 she directed the reedition of Nicolas Borns (1937-1979) poems and correspondence for the Wallstein Verlag. The poetry collection was number one of the SWR Bestenliste and received the Peter-Huchel-Preis of the most interesting poetry publication of 2005. For her essays and her editorial work on the works of Nicolas Born she received the Literaturpreis Ruhr 2007.Excerpts of her own novel "Schlechte Gesellschaft. Eine Familiengeschichte", published in Spring 2011 by Hanser Verlag,she was awarded the Georg-K.-Glaser-Preis 2008 as well as the Ernst Willner Preis of the Days of germanspeaking Literature in Klagenfurt 2009. For the project of her second novel she received the annual grant of Niedersachsen 2010. Katharina Born lives with her husband and her two sons in Paris, France und in Lüchow-Dannenberg in Lower Saxony.
