Kathleen Allen has spent her career in the world of startups in one form or another: as an entrepreneur, educator, consultant, speaker, and author. She has written more than 15 books in the field of entrepreneurship and technology commercialization including the leading texts Launching New Ventures, 6th Ed. and Entrepreneurship for Scientists and Engineers. Allen co-founded several companies, now serves as an investor and adviser to startups, and is on the board of directors of a NYSE company. A frequent speaker at business events, she speaks about startup strategy and how to effectively innovate and commercialize new technologies.Allen’s desire to bring the empowering mindset and skills of entrepreneurs to anyone who wants to take charge of his or her career and life has led to a small eBook series with co-author Peter Economy, Common Sense for Uncommon Times, soon to be published on Amazon. Allen has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Business Week, Forbes, The Associated Press, and Bloomberg, among other publications. Her blog site, The Venture Edge, with business writer Peter Economy, offers no-nonsense commentary and advice to entrepreneurs. Dr. Allen is a Professor of Entrepreneurship and Technology Commercialization at the University of Southern California and is the founding director of the USC Marshall Center for Technology Commercialization. Her husband is an entrepreneur and they have four grown children; two are entrepreneurs.
