Katie Schorr is a writer. You can find her work online at McSweeney’s, Mother.ly (formerly Parent.co), the 818 Magazine, small answers, and Well-Rounded. She occasionally appears in television commercials, narrates audiobooks, and has acted in a handful of web series. A University of Michigan graduate with a BA in Creative Writing and Literature, Katie spent her twenties studying performing at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, Ars Nova, the Ensemble Studio Theatre, and a handful of sticky-floored black box basements you swore you’d never go to again. During this rocky period, she spent many weekends and evenings co-hosting a “funny” tour of New York City while standing sideways on an oversized bus, did two weeks of short-form improv at International Auto Show in Manhattan while scores of confused attendees squinted at her, and logged seven years riding the M train to its end to teach third graders how to write plays. In other words: she’s very into vehicles and theater. Katie is married to YA writer, Lance Rubin, with whom she has two young sons.

It took me almost 4 months to finish this book. For some reason, I just never got sucked in; it was easy to put down and hard to pick back up. Janelle and I never really connected. Plus, insta-love, the improbability of her having access to some of the things she had access to, the rather heavy vol...
