Kay Mixson Jenkins was born in Allendale, SC. She attended Allendale-Fairfax High School where she was a member of the Debate Team, Annual Staff,Beta Club, and had several poems published in the FairDale.Kay was at the pinnacle of her career as one of the few female heavy-equipment operators in the construction industry when she developed Parkinson's at the age of thirty-four. Since then, she has become a tireless advocate and a respected leader in the following organizations nationwide.
