Ken Shuldman was born in Brooklyn, (Coney Island, to be exact.) His family were mainstays of the Jewish Coney Island community. His grandmother baked knishes on the boardwalk, and his Aunt was Miss Jewish Coney Island of 1937. He attended Brooklyn College and Pratt Institute. He began his advertising career in the early 1980's, starting at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, then went to work on Madison Ave for the legendary ad agency, Doyle Dane Bernbach. He is currently a writer and creative director at Ogilvy & Mather in New York City. Jazz Survivor is his first book.
