Kenneth A. Giuffre M.D of Wyckoff NJ, board certified Anesthesiologist, Inventor, Writer, Parkinson's advocate and co-founder of the non-profit educational foundation, Dopadoc Parkenson's International, web presence Dopadoc Dot Com is the author of "Ward Survival Manual", "The Care an Feeding of Your Brain" (Currently undergoing revision), and the fiction work "Descent to Hell". He studied the brain during his research at Johns Hopkins and received the Lamport Prize for excellence in biomedical research.Giuffre has recently undertaken an extensive study of the work of Vernon Mountcastle MD, specifically his 6-layer/cortical column model of the cerebral cortex and its interpretation by luminaries Gerald Edelman and Jeff Hawkins, founder of the Palm Pilot. Part of that work has become the basis for the 3-D Mind model for self-improvement and effective personal change as administered by Tom Vizzini and Kim McFarland of Essential-Skills. Giuffre is also using the model to create intelligent computer apps in Python and Lisp and so far has been able to simulate emergent neuronal behavior in a simulated visual cortex. To quote Giuffre, "I know a little bit about a sot of things, but not too much about any one thing except Parkinson's and the brain."Giuffre received a BS in Biology/Fine Arts from Georgetown, an MD fron Johns Hopkins, clinical acupuncture credentials from UCLA and a residency in Anesthesiology/Critical Care Medicine from Harvard (Mass General Hospital). He also conducted research on the endocrinology of surgical stress under Robert udelsman and George Chrousos at the NIH and under Richart Traytsman at Johns Hopkins. He loves ice hockey and percussion and is an avid drummer even though he has lost functional use of his right hand. "With just hid left hand he can out-play most drummers I've played with," according to former band-mate and guitarist Genero Peralta.
