Kevin's interest in technology began at the age of 14. He detasseled corn for a summer and saved up and bought a Commodore 64 (Whoooo! Hoooo!). Hours were spent teaching himself to program, which later lead to a programming position with the University of Illinois. Anyone remember Plato terminals? Kevin spent three years working with the Computer Adaptive Testing and Measurement team developing online study materials for domestic and international audiences. For the past thirteen years, Kevin has developed curriculum and taught in both academic and corporate environments. Even though he has taught multiple subjects, a majority of his teaching has centered on technology. After graduating with my Master of Education degree from the University of Illinois, he moved to California and taught for a Business College. Due to his desire to save paper (not to mention the desire to no longer fight for the copy machine), he started providing lecture notes and other resources to students on CDs. As the Internet emerged, he began teaching web development courses. It was a natural transition to move from burning CDs to placing course content on the web. Before long, Kevin was interacting with his students electronically and his interest in online education began. Since, Kevin has held both instructional and administrative positions focusing on developing and supporting online faculty. He has also facilitated a statewide initiative focusing on the creation of a quality design rubric for online courses. Kevin is now the CEO of The Cutting Ed, Inc. and pursuing his doctorate of education degree in Instructional Technology and Distance Education.
