Read through page 53.I'm probably too snooty a reader for this book, and just having enjoyed some escapism through the works of Jane Austen is perhaps a better indication that I shouldn't move on to actually trashy stuff than that I should. I was ready for silly fun! The prologue was totally fun! Bu...
I really appreciated each installment of Kevin Kwan's trilogy. I think they build on each other in a really fun way as you see characters develop. I just think his satirical hand mixes deftly with dynamic characterization and funny dialogue.
I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this, even more so than the first book, to be honest. Kwan's satirical style is as fun and funny as ever in poking fun of the mega rich - in this case, China rich! - but there's also a fleshing out of relationships and the introduction of new characte...
I listened to all three of these books in audio form, but I also had the Kindle version of the box set. I went back and forth between the two. The three books are not a traditional trilogy, as the focal characters shift somewhat from book to book. The first book focuses mainly on Rachel meeting ...
This isn't really a review. It's a comment about the narrator, Lydia Look. There are certain things about her narration that I enjoy, but one thing that drives me crazy is that she pronounces "ear" "year"--and in this audio narration, there were multiple references to YEARRINGS. YEARRINGS?!?!?!? ...
Contemporary romance isn’t really my cuppa, but this was enjoyable. I didn’t have as much trouble keeping track of all the characters as I feared I would (I admit, I’m daunted any time there’s a family tree at the start of a book), and yet I felt like I could have done without some of the family sub...
For more reviews, check out my blog: Craft-CycleI watched the movie adaptation a while ago and enjoyed it well enough so I figured the audiobook would be worth a read. The book started out well enough. I really enjoyed the descriptions of the food. Everything sounds so tantalizingly delicious. Howev...
Utterly pleased with this second installation in the crazy rich, fickle and idiotic people series. Once you get used to the ludicrously lavish and indulgent world the characters live in from the first book, it's so much easier to see and enjoy their lives as almost normal. Almost. There are still so...
Crazy Rich Asians, Book 3 I Picked Up This Book Because: Continue the series The Characters: Again the cast of this book is legion, just like the last two. We do spend time with Rachel and Nick, Astrid, Michael and Colin, Charlie Wu, Kitty, Oliver and we don’t talk to her but Colette also. The ...
Crazy Rich Asians, Book 2 I Picked Up This Book Because: Continue the series The Characters: The cast of this book is legion, just like the last one. Though we do spend time with Rachel and Nick, Astrid, Michael and Colin, Charlie Wu and newcomers Carlton and Colette. The Story: I’m not sure we...
