Kimberley Jane Pryor (1962- ) is an Australian author of nonfiction children's books. She mostly writes about animals because she is fascinated by animal behaviour. When she is not writing, she is out taking photos of birds. On holidays, she loves scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef.After completing a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of New England, Kimberley worked for ten years as a cell biologist. During that time she completed a Master of Science degree at the University of New South Wales and was the first author of two scientific papers. She also completed courses in Scientific Photography and Electron Microscopy at TAFE NSW.Kimberley has worked as an author for ten years and has had 64 nonfiction children's books published. Three of these books or series have been nominated for awards. The Discovering Dinosaurs series was a Shortlisted Entry in the Primary School - Best Student Learning Print or Blended Resource - Arts/Science/Humanities category for The Australian Educational Publishing Awards 2011. Tricky Behaviour (from the Animal attack and defence series) was a Finalist for the 2011 Animal Behavior Society's Outstanding Children's Book Award. The Macmillan Encyclopedia of Australian Plants and Animals was a Shortlisted Entry in the Primary School - Library Book Series category for The Australian Awards for Excellence in Educational Publishing 2006.Kimberley has also completed a Certificate III in Library/Information Services with Distinction and a Diploma in Library/Information Services with Distinction at TAFE NSW. While doing these courses, she received the Top Student - First Year Award, Top Student of the Year Award and the Information Technology Award 2009.
