King Henry the Fourth, Part IIby William ShakespeareThe Longman Cultural Editions series presents the only paperback edition of both parts of Henry IV published in one volume, together with relevant literary and historical contextual materials that illluminate without overwhelming the primary texts. This edition presents both parts of Shakespeare's Henry IV plays in the authoritative Bevington edition, tracing the full course of Prince Hal's ambiguous journey from prodigal youth to his role as King Henry V, as well as the controversial career of the tavern "king," Sir John Falstaff. Contextual materials emphasize the plays' historical background, Shakespeare's transformation of his sources, and the intellectual controversies that are embodied in the dramatic actionOther Titles of William Shakespeare Books1.Alls Well That Ends Well2.Antony and Cleopatra3.As You Like It4.Comedy of Errors5.Coriolanus6.Cymbeline7.Hamlet8.Julius Caeser9.King Henry the Fourth Part I10.King Henry the Eighth11.King Henry the Fifth12.King Henry The Sixth Part I13.King Henry The Sixth Part II14.King Henry the Sixth Part III15.King John16.King Lear17.King Richard the Second18.King Richard the Third19.Loves Labour Lost20.Macbeth21.A Lovers Complaint22.Measure for Measure23.Merchant of Venice24.Merry Wives of Windsor25.Midsummers' Night Dream26.Much Ado About Nothing27.Othello28.Pericles Prince of Tyre29.Rape of Lucrece30.Romeo and Juliet31.Sonnets32.Taming of the Shrew33.Tempest34.The Winter's Tale35.Timon of Athens36.Titus Andronicus37.Troilus and Cressida38.Twelfth Night39.Two Gentlemen of Verona40.Two Noble Kinsmen41.Venus and AdonisFor additional information on

This is a funny little play and one that incidentally destroys all these conspiracy theories that Shakespeare did not write Shakespeare and that it must be this or that lord instead because it was clearly written for the money. It is a direct sequel to Henry IV, Part 2 and is a sequel like many Hol...
In the particular edition of this play that I read the editors included and essay by Harold Jenkins (not that that name means anything to me) about whether Henry IV is two five act plays or one ten act play. Personally I don't care either way and would really not want to write a major thesis on that...

Did I miss something, or many things? The entire play seemed disjointed and skippy. I was quite fond of the first couple of scenes, but then it went downhill very quickly for me.
After Hotspur’s defeat at Shrewsbury, other defiant rebel bands pose a continued threat to English peace. However, the play lacks the same drama as in Part One. The rebellion dissipates through Northumberland’s inconstancy and John of Lancaster’s ruse on the Archbishop of York and allied lords. T...
