So würde ic...

I know what you're thinking right now: WHO ARE YOU? Yes. I came back. I am alive...kinda. In case you guys do remember me,let me start with the reason I've been missing for so much time. The reason is a huge mix of work, breakdowns and a car accident that BROKE MY ARM AGAIN. IT'S THE SECOND TIME ...

Seriously I'm blown away. The last 30% of this book is crazy, and by crazy I mean amazing. The book starts out with Jorg as king and there is some serious back pedaling going on to make Jorg seem like a more sympathetic character. At least that was my take. And I'm like come on Jorg you're no Jamie...

This is Book 2 of The Broken Empire and sadly, it didn't hold me as enthralled as the first book. I couldn't put the first one down and kept putting things aside to continue reading, but reading King of Thorns had none of that urgency. I kept muttering to myself, "And the point of all this is...?"...

The murderous lunatic is finally kinging it from his golden throne, when horror, gore, necromancy, bloodshed, carnage, splattered brains, and butchered human entrails happen again. Good times.

First off. This series is what most people would call grimdark. All three books, especially the first are very bleak and the characters described have few, if any, redeeming features. The story follows a young teenager who roams the earth in a post-apocalyptic aftermath (a thousand year prior). Ra...

So. This book. Hm. I think objectively it's not a bad book, but I hated it. Okay, no, hate is too strong a word. It's just that while reading Empire of Thorns I didn't have one single positive thought, which not a lot of books have managed so far, I can tell you that. I keep wondering what I li...

I’M OBSESSED Holy crap these are awesomely dark reads. I feel... weighted after I read them. Kinda depressed. I love it when a book can get to me and change my mood. This bumped up for me from the last. I think I’m starting to see what made Jorg the way he is and it’s making me understand him more...

Best citation for me: "The thing about the path less travelled is that it is often less travelled for a good reason." This is King Jorg for you. Pragmatic, power-hungry, dark, amoral, evil and interesting. The dry sense of humor that shows rarely but poignantly. It boggles the mind why one would...

While I despised Jorg in Prince of Thorns, the story itself was highly entertaining and kept me turning pages as quickly as I could read them. However, I did not find this novel as engrossing, perhaps because I've grown somewhat use to the main character's sociopathic behavior. In any event, sin...
