A few of the chapters got a little long in the second half of the book, but overall a very enjoyable read.

If you happen to find this book in audio, don’t hesitate to listen. It’s hilarious. Bourdain is a man of many talents, and one of them is picking up slangs in different languages quickly and adapting to accents. Like I said, hilarious. Things I learned from this book: Never order fish on a Monday...

Very interesting and entertaining. He's a better writer than I expected. Some of the long lists of french food terms got tedious, especially since they were never defined, but there was enough other stuff to keep me interested

I kept hearing about this book from two friends, and finally read it largely out of self defense. Unfortunately, Bourdain comes across as a bit of an ass, and I gave up on drug-soaked memoirs long ago.He "exposes" the dark underbelly of the culinary world, and after a couple hundred pages of nothing...

entertaining and exciting, Bourdain's 80,000 ratings 3.96 blockbuster loses a star in my estimation for obvious hyperbole and probably some outright fiction (Bourdain also writes novels). subject to a skeptical, rigorous reader's mind, it becomes somewhat clear that Bourdain to playing to the audien...

Five stars for Kitchen Confidential, which I thought was brilliantly written and totally engrossing, a terrific book and one that I wish I'd read sooner because in Bourdain's telling the professional kitchen is really the world of work in microcosm and there is much to learn here.

This was a great book. I loved Tony's irreverent take on the food industry & his great story telling skills definetely showed. He narrated the audiobook himself, so it was wonderful hearing him pronounce all the french words for menu items & culinary techniques that I would have stumbled over & tr...

I picked up Anthony Bourdain's first book, Kitchen Confidential, last month after a fellow Goodreader gushed about it, and I'm so glad I did. I was passingly familiar with Bourdain from his guest appearances on Top Chef. He always came off as an aging rock star, with the swagger and the lived-in ski...

The first half (funny and interesting) was much better than the second half (self-indulgent and boring). Brought back a lot of memories. I've worked with the characters Bourdain describes. I would recommend the audiobook. Bourdain, in addition to being a deadpan laugh riot, reads very well.
