I read the first few stories in here and I liked them, I read some others and I didn't like them. There were two problems: I don't like short story collections much to begin with, and this has L. Ron Hubbard's name emblazoned on the cover. I just won't be seen with this in my hands.
I received a free copy of this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.I think most of these stories were hampered by the fact that they were just that -- short stories. I'm confident that at least 90% of them would have been so much better had they had more length. So while I feel more ...
For the past several years, there has been a growing trend of republished old pulps in new monthly or quarterly series with flashy pulpy or pulp-inspired covers, and Hubbard’s classics have been no exception. Amongst its peers, Stories from the Golden Age has the distinction of actually being sold o...
A sprawling SF saga that probably should have been a trilogy As big as Star Wars. As desperate as Hunger Games. On August 20, 1977, we sent a message into space. Only recently did Voyager 1 go beyond the outer reaches of our solar system and into interstellar space. On it was a map of Earth, ...
Two years ago, I was given the opportunity to review Writers of the Future Volume 28 and Volume 29. I loved them both so much!! Then again, last year, I was asked to review Volume 30. It was awesome!! So you can imagine how excited I was when I found out to review this year's edition, Writers of...

I've been reading the Writers of the Future anthologies for many years. This one did not disappoint. Though the quality of the stories do vary (as it does in any anthology pursuant to each reader’s personal taste) this is a solid entry in the series. As these stories are by mostly new authors we can...

Last year, I was given the opportunity to review Writers of the Future Volume 28 and Volume 29. I loved them both so much!! I was beyond excited when I was asked to review this year's edition, Volume 30. As usual, the stories were all first-rate. My favorites from the contest winners were Animal ...
