While I still love the book, I guess this is my least favourite of the quartet. Not that it's not well written, it just gets repititious at times, and could probably easily have been 50-100 pages shorter. Long fight-scenes just aren't my cup of tea.Still charming though - I don't think Tamora Pierce...

Having loved Alanna and Danae since I was a girl, I came to really like Kel as well - yet another type of strong female character that we get to follow as she grows up and finds her own way. Tamora Pierce's Tortall remains one of my favorite YA worlds!
