This was a nice story about 17 yo Claire. Even though the world in which she lives is steam powered (airships, trains, etc) she is still constrained by being a woman. And everyone knows a woman's sole purpose is to get married, have kids, and make the menfolk's lives as nice as can be. She was the d...

I can’t in good conscience say that the plot of this tale is “believable.” But the pieces fall together so nicely that suspending my disbelief was surprisingly easy. I suppose this is because the setting and the characters do all the heavy lifting, with actual plot taking a backseat to the developme...

I didn't care much for the cover, but I'm really glad the TBR jar decided it was time to read this book anyway. I read the Finishing School series by Gail Carriger and although this is not a school training girls to be assassins and spies it did have the same feel to it (which is good because I can'...

Regaurdless of the ending leaving you begging for more it is an exceptional good book. The fact that a woman can be so witty and in regaurds inspiring brings you to the desire of not setting the writing down. The writer deffinatly catches your interest and continually brings little surprises through...

I'd been interested in this for a while but steampunk isn't really one of my favourite genre's--unless it's by Lindsay Buroker and they have romance in them.I liked this but it's not my usual read. I guess I could be tempted to read more of the series at some point but I think I'd have to be in the ...

Set in late 1800s London, this steampunk adventure follows Claire Trevelyan. Claire’s dad is some minor nobility and inventor. In fact, he puts the family fortune into the development of combustion engine. Sadly, that doesn’t turn out well, and Claire is soon left penniless and on her own. Have you ...

Excellent steam punk with interesting world building and very little of the typical need to drown you in it. Claire is engaging as a protagonist and yet not too perfect. Felt too short.

A so-so steam punk story. Too short with no real ending. The writing was fairly good but the story was a bit drawn out given the short length. I enjoyed this book enough to keep reading but I am irritated that this book is essentially a teaser. I don't like how some indie authors break up their ...
