I didn't love the protagonist in the first book, but I thought Taylor did a great job putting her through some life-changing experiences. Here I felt bored and impatient with her. Her romance and revenge issues were totally overshadowed by the war and genocide setting.

I am never going to do this review justice. The book is lyrical, the story moving. One of my favorite books of the year. Cannot wait for the next book!
Awesome sequel. Even better than Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I wish I could give this 10 stars. Heck even 100 wouldn't be enough. Can't wait for the final book!
I definitely liked the first one better but it wasn't bad. I find Laini Taylor's writing to be a bit confusing at times, so it was hard to get back into the swing of things in the second book of the series without some refreshers.
