I worked for 12 years in an estate and business planning law firm for a very entrepreneurial attorney, where I landed after a brief stint in the Army. I had just turned 21 and had been released from boot camp with a knee injury, so I began temping for a law firm as a receptionist, which turned into my permanent job. Though I had completed high school and a few semesters of college, I had no degree and no real office experience at all. I didn't even know what "dress code" meant, and I really needed a refresher course on my grammar. But I always had that "do it right or not at all" quality, and luckily, my boss recognized a diamond in the rough. I had that same quality every hiring manager looks for when hiring-that "bring it on, I can do it!" attitude. Now, 12 years later, I have helped create business models and license them to other law firms. I train small business owners and their teams across the country. I've co-led a national key assistant program, teaching many of the techniques we will share with you in this book. I've learned to hire, fire, and manage my team, and I've started a successful business of my own. I've visited Cambodia twice to volunteer in an orphanage school and monastery school. My mission in life is to create the possibility of a better future for children.
