I found the story intriguing all through and really liked Thora and the way she dealt with life in general. It ended a bit too randomly though and I wasn't sure how I felt about her relationship with Matthew. A good read overall.

I'm torn between 2.5 and 3 stars. The mystery was well developed and interesting, but I hated the main character, Thora. What a childish, immature, stupid woman. I understand that not all MC can be super smart but she is so stupid it makes you want to hit her. Her 6-year-old daughter tells her that ...

Relaxing in a bloody sort of way. Reminded me a bit of the Cadfael books the way the main characters ambled around the countryside - perhaps also the medieval references although a few hundred years later, brought the Cadfael murders to mind. Unlike many of the modern icelandic murder books leaves y...

Felt very disjointed, not sure if it was the translation or not. The mystery was ok, not great.

This was a good book, but not a great book. It kept my interest for the most part, but this author is def. not my favorite nordic noir author. I will continue to read her books though. I liked the fact that, being written by a female author, she didn't muddle it with a bunch of romantic garbage whic...

I really enjoyed this book by this Icelandic author. There is certainly some gruesome stuff in the book, but I don't know if it's any more violent than some of the things I've read in P.D. James' works, for example. The mystery was good, and kept me guessing until the end, and it was a page turner...
