Edith Wharton wrote ghost stories?
It's a whole book of Puss-in-Boots inspired tales about cats helping people (and sometimes mostly just pointing up their folly). Talking, sometimes clothes-wearing cats. Not for everyone, but for a select audience these stories should delight.
I concluded from this book (ok, and a couple of her others) that I don't like the writing of Edith Wharton. I feel her writing is very dry and uninviting compared to some of her counterparts from the same period!

Another enjoyable book from Lloyd Alexander. A collection of short stories that center around cats. Cute and a fun read for all ages.
