This is book 4 in the series of October Daye novels, and as a lot of the plot points in the book will make little sense without reading the previous ones, I would recommend starting with book one, "Rosemary and Rue".It's no secret that the Queen of the Mists hates Sir October "Toby" Daye, so it's ra...

This is deff the book that changed my mind about what this series is about. The writing is still stellar, but the direction that Toby is being taken in makes so much more sense. She is no longer a Fae PI with no direction... She has more of a purpose which gives definition to her actions. Lots of Ty...

This volume of the series is fantastic. If the Toby Daye books were a TV show, this book would be a season finale. So much game-changing mythology! I love it and I can't wait to see where the series takes Toby next.

Someone once told me that if I love Curran from Kate Daniel's, I should like Tybalt in October Daye's. After speed reading through 4 books, I still can't see the resemblance here. Tybalt, the king of Cat is disappointing me. First of all, he had little screen time. Everytime he did manage to appear,...

Tybalt's small role in Book 3, An Artificial Night, was a major drawback for me, so I was definitely happy to see more of the Cait Sidhe King in this book. What didn't make me happy was the love triangle possibilities surrounding Toby, Tybalt and Connor. Toby may have had a relationship with Conno...

I love the quip in the summary (taken from the author's website) about making Toby wear dresses. It's so true! Toby's getting unwillingly dragged into Royal and Courtly politics. Can you think of anything that is less Toby's cup of tea than pomp and politics? Neh, me either. And why? Why are people ...

A disjointed start led to a stronger story than those previously in the series. This time more is revealed about October herself, the kinds of things that have been hinted at for a long time. There's a lot more Tybalt and a lot more intensity and a lot more stupidity on Toby's part in regards to the...

First of all I just have to get this off my chest; Raysel! You fucking bitch!!! *screams* Honestly it was painful to read the book this time cos I just wanted to go over and slap Raysel and then leave her to rot. I always did hate that bitch but here it got even worse. At the moment she is one of my...

There were so many places Seanan McGuire could have taken this book. If Toby stopped running from place to place, driving like a maniac through traffic, maybe the author could have taken her there. And really Toby, it's time to invest in a cell phone. You've been back in the real world for a couple ...
