This is a pretty decent read for children ages 9-11 looking for historical fiction about WWII. I recommend. I really enjoyed reading this. I didn't particularly like the narrator/protagonist, but other than that I enjoyed this book.
The first few books of this series were quite childish, more so than is warranted given their 7+ age recommendation. A simple, srtaightfoward, affecting story about a boy who puts compassion before his self-interest to aid a homeless man.
