For more comments, quotes, and discussion - Buddy Read Small Town GirlThis leans a little more towards women's fiction with the focus more on the heroine Tess, her career, and how she integrates with her family life. Our hero Kenny doesn't get many povs but when he does appear on the pages, you'll l...

There always seems to be a character in a LaVyrle Spencer book that I wish had a book of his/her own. Charles Bliss rides off into the sunset at the end of Vows to find (hopefully!) his happy ever after. I'd love to know if sensible and sweet Kerstin Johanson (The Endearment) ever found her true lov...

“I have loved you when I did not know you existed, Anna. I have loved the dream of you. I have begun loving you before I left my mother's arms. I have loved you while I find this land to which I would bring you and while I cut its timbers to build this home for you and while I reap my grains for you...

Vows by LaVyrle Spence is testament to one thing at least: Love ain't no freaking Hallmark card with hearts and flowers and sweet sentimental sayings with cute Cupids shooting benign arrows of love into the hearts of his victi-, erm, I mean, potential lovers. For Tom, Emily, Charles, Tarsy, Josephin...

To remind you of what I thought about the first 30% of the story - my rant is here. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The rest of the book doesn’t deal as much with Catherine’s pregnancy. She and Clay get married at last, and Clay tries to build some kind of a relationship with his new wife, but Catherine stays alo...

Bought this book because Bess and Michael have my irl last name. :P Read (9/7/15): 2 stars, because there was some really lolzy parts-- the retro, dated 80's references. The pot smoking scene. Not the H/h, mind you, but their druggy son. LOLZ for dayz. I did not like this book because of the fact...

I thought I would like this book from the blurb, but not really. The hero was way too judgment and really knew how to hold on to a perceived slight like nobody's business. The heroine was just young and little naive even with the life she came from. Bit of a struggle to finish to book. 2-1/2 sta...

The book got better towards the end. Barely. The last 1/3 gets 3 stars, the first 2/3 I'd only give 2.5 stars.

I read this book about five years ago, and it's still one of my favorites. I fell in love with all of the characters, which just made it more heartbreaking. Even though its not very explicit, its still a very sensual book.
