Lee Harper is the award-winning picture book author/illustrator of the books COYOTE, THE EMPEROR'S COOL CLOTHES, and SNOW! SNOW! SNOW!. Lee is also the artist behind WOOLBUR, by Leslie Helakoski, TURKEY CLAUS and TURKEY TROUBLE by Wendi Silvano, and LOOKING FOR THE EASY LIFE by Walter Dean Myers. Lee's most recent honor was the 2013 Library of Michigan 'Michigan Reads! Award' for WOOLBUR.In addition to writing and illustrating picture books, Lee enjoys sharing his craft with school children across the country. During school visits Lee talks to the children he meets about the books he loved as a child, his inspiration for becoming a picture book author/illustrator, where his ideas come from, and the complete process of writing and illustrating a picture book. He then draws with them. By the end of the presentation everyone has created several of his or her own characters.Lee grew up in a small town in Southern New Jersey where as a child he always loved to draw. He received his formal art training at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts where he was the recipient of the Louis S. Ware European Traveling scholarship.
