I'd once started this book back in 2007, but at a point I was just so annoyed with it, I quit. Now, it was time to give it another try. And it was not as bad as I remembered, some parts were nice to read (even though the amount of sex in it makes that you almost think you're reading 50 shades or s...
It took a while for this story to get going for me. The misunderstanding between Ayla and Jondalar dragged from the beginning ALL the way to the end. That was the most frustrating for me. The author goes into great detail with how things are made. Sometimes, it's very interesting and sometimes, it's...
2.5 stars. i'm so torn in my rating of these books. i'm totally loving them, but completely recognize their shortcomings (and there are many and they are significant). really enjoyed the detail in the living that this book has, and really didn't like the drawn out romantic tug-of-war that went on...
Note to self:As I read books 1, 2 then 3 back to back, there were a number of things that were repetitious and therefore, bores me a little.I'm also finding Jondalar very irritating in this book and therefore, struggles to continue with it... I have, for now, given it up but maybe one day will pick ...
In the third installment of the Earth's Children series Ayla finally gets to meet more people of her own kind (the Cro-Magnon race she calls the Others). Spending the winter with Jondalar and the Lion Camp of the Mamutoi Ayla learns about the differences between the Others and the Clan (Neanderthal...
One of the worst of the series, the main problem I have is I'm sick of love triangles. Also she retells to much of the former books and to much extra info that at times is interesting but she just has too much and it doesn't add to the story.
***Spoilers, maybe***What did I learn from the first three books of this series? Ayla is Jesus……I know!Well there is a little more to it I suppose. The first book in the series “Clan of the Cave Bear” is about the life of a young human child, Ayla, who due to an earthquake, is orphaned and then is...
I liked this better than Valley but not as much as Clan. The pre-historic era was one big orgy in animal furs.
We had this au pair, an extremely smart girl who later became the editor of an architecture journal. A friend who liked women's erotica lent her a copy of The Mammoth Hunters, assuring her that it was a good smutty read. A couple of days later, I asked Isabel if it had lived up to its advance billin...
