This was a really good book. It is the story of Gerry Fegan. He is a hit man and he is haunted by the ghosts of 12 people that he took part in killing. He figures out that what the ghosts want is for him to kill those responsible for their deaths. Really, really good writing. I really enjoyed i...
That was...not bad but not brilliant either which makes is incredibly hard to write anything at all about. I've read a few books/crime-novels that were written from the POV of - let's say morally questionable characters but I think apart from Leena Lehtolainen's Time to Die in which the protagonist ...

This review will contain some spoilers because I found it very difficult to express some of the things I didn't like without actually saying what those things were. None of these spoilers are too big and I won't say how the book ends but they may answer some questions before you read the book. This b...
I had written a nice little review for this one but it got swallowed by the ether...Anyway, what I wanted to say was this was a good story about a killer for the IRA and how he tries to make it up to the people he killed. Great noir, recommended!I just noticed that this is called "Jack Lennon Invest...
This strangely compelling book concerns a man named Gerry Fegan who was involed in the troubles and is, perhaps, haunted by the ghosts of twelve people he is responisble for killing. And they are not nice ghosts. They want revenge. This book is violent (and if you like dogs it does have dog fighting)...
The first half was 5 stars. The last half, particularly after the first half, was 2. So I evened it out. It was disappointing because Fagen is an almost great character limited by a fabulous conceit that isn't allowed to spin out. That said, it was a quick and engaging read.
My rating for this book is actually 3.5*.This is a very violent thriller set in modern day Belfast.A former IRA hitman is followed by the 12 ghosts of people he has killed in the past. The ghosts insist he kills those who set them up for their deaths, and as he does so, the ghosts retreat one by one....
Unexpectedly brilliant. I bought this for my brother who likes the more violent thriller type books, started reading it just to see what it was like and was totally and utterly gripped. Very tense and I still can't believe I had so much sympathy for such a plainly 'bad' man. Really good.
