Being a fan of Japanese culture, I've heard about the loyal dog names Hachiko, who waited for his owner everyday for ten years at the Shibuya Station but never was reunited with him, since I was very young. But it's been a long time since I've actually read anything inspired by the story. Until now,...

Cute story about a young girl who has two moms. She goes to school and everyone draws and tells about their family. Sends a positive message about everyone is different and everyone is special. Could be used for any grade to teach about how there are all types of families in the world.

This is a solid group of short stories. My favorite story was "Michael's Little Sister" by C.S Adler. I didn't have much of an emotional response to any of the others, but most of the stories were good and I did enjoy them. The only one I actually disliked is "Blood Sister" by Jane Yolen. I have o...

Cute story with a positive message. I didn't really like the illustrations, but the story makes up for it. Each family is special. The most important thing about a family is that all the people in it love each other.

This is a beautiful, haunting tribute to Matthew Shepherd told in a bevy of imagined voices, some of which are spun off quotes from people connected to the murder in some way, from the murderers to the investigating officers to the person who found Matthew's body. While it's tempting to find voices ...

I won't say much about this book because it's fairly short and I feel it's one of those books you should read for yourself. Basically, it's a collection of poems Lesléa Newman wrote for Matthew Shepard, a boy who was beaten, robbed, and tied to a fence for being homosexual. A lot of the poems are re...
