I think you will like it more if you are also from a small town. Wood becomes completely irrational near the end and that was the one complaint I have as he didn't work through it.

This is a good book and well written. It contains a unique combination of humor, pathos, wisdom, folly and symbolism. Bloodworth Thomason spent years in television before writing a novel. I've liked that work, and she must be some kind of distant relation, although I don't know how. A warm, funny book about death-dealing big box stores and small towns.
