It's harsh, but one star was deducted because of my personal reading quirk -- I'm not real fond of present tense. I know, Jarod Crews uses it well. It's part of a strong narrative voice, but I just can't get over it. So four stars.But moving on. This is an intriguing start to a new steampunk series....
