Libi Astaire didn't realize she was fascinated by Jewish history until long after she had graduated from college, but now she's making up for lost time. In addition to having articles published in The Jewish Press, Mishpacha Magazine and on Aish.com, she writes books, including her award-winning Jewish Regency Mystery Series, in which wealthy-widower-turned-sleuth Mr. Ezra Melamed teams up with General Well'ngone and the Earl of Gravel Lane - the leaders of a gang of young Jewish pickpockets - to solve crimes affecting Regency London's Jewish community. Her interest in the crypto-Jews of Spain led her to write "Terra Incognita," a novel about modern-day Spanish villagers who discover they are descended from Jews who were forced to convert to Christianity during the Middle Ages. She is also the author of "The Banished Heart," a novel about Shakespeare's writing of "The Merchant of Venice," and "Day Trips to Jewish History," a collection of essays about lesser known people and places in Jewish history. Last, but certainly not least, her retelling of Chassidic tales has been published in the box set "Choose Light! Chassidic Tales for Chanukah, Rosh Hashanah, Sukkos, Passover & Shavuos."Her own journey has taken her from Kansas, where she grew up, to Jerusalem, where she now lives.
