After being rather disappointed by Odd Hours last fall, I decided to take a break from reading Dean Koontz. When he's good he's great, but when he's bad he's....really bad. I'm not saying Odd Hours was terrible -- it just wasn't as good as the books that preceded it in the Odd Thomas series. A week ...

This year, along with my King reread, I'm delving into my top 10 Koontz books again. (Probably Top 12, just so I have a book for every month, but I'm having trouble picking two more.) I have a theory about Dean Koontz, and it goes like this: He's only written ten stories in his career, and he's been...

This was my very first Dean Koontz book and I obviously chose a great one. This book was very suspenseful and had me scared for the main characters 90% of the time. There's not a lot that I can say without giving away the plot but it's a great read if you like suspense with a splash of syfi. Don'...

When I think about the books that shaped my reading tastes, I feel like this was the defining book. So I reread it with a little trepidation. I didn't even want to read others' reviews of it for fear that any criticism would spoil the image I have of it in my head.I was 11 when my cousin gave me th...

Probably my favourite Dean Koontz novel so far. Not as gory as some (which is a good thing!) and more a suspense novel than a thriller or a horror novel. Not that I mind neither thriller nor horror if it's well done, but those genres seem harder to get right, and Lightning just worked for me. The pa...

Oen of my favorite Koontz novels. Is it a spoiler to say this is a time travel novel with a twist? It is also one of Koontz's more romantic thrillers. I think it is best to go into this novel without too much info in order to enjoy the twists and turns.

Lightning is a great thriller divided into 2 main parts. The first half follows Laura from birth until her early 30s. Her life isn't easy or idyllic at all, and there always seem to be danger and tragedy lingering around her. But Laura believes she has someone who would help her if things got ugly, h...

This novel is a combination of science fiction (time travel) and suspense, and the result is a book I was not be able to put down. The story focused around Laura Shane. Starting from birth and to adulthood (around 30 I believe). The other main character is Stefan. A unknown “guardian” who kee...

Just good Dean Koontz. To be honest, I read this book years and years ago, but can remember how much I loved it. It was around the time when I started to read DK and I just remember going out and stocking up on his books.
