When Linda unearthed her late mother's voluminous recipe card collection, the spark was ignited for the eventual STORIED DISHES. "Food is a lens through which we see more deeply into culture and ourselves," she says. Her passion had already taken her to a Master's Degree in Food Studies at New York University where she also taught food writing. In addition to STORIED DISHES, she is the author of the best-selling American Indian Food for which she won a Linda D. Russo Travel Grant. In 1997, Linda explored food prehistory at an archaeological dig in Thailand, the only known site of burials in food. When not tracking down some new mystery in food history, she can be found in the kitchen cooking just about anything new or traveling to some exotic locale to research little-known dishes. She divides her time between Stephentown, New York and Tucson, Arizona where she is a founding member of Sabores sin Fronteras (Food without Borders). Linda also belongs to the Association for the Study of Food and Society, and speaks frequently about her mother's recipe collection, family recipes, food and culture, and women and food.
