Linda Rossetti Brocato was born to second generation Italian immigrants. Her mother's name is listed at Ellis Island as arriving on a ship at 9 months of age.As a child, she quickly understood that literacy was important as she wrote letters for her Nona Rossetti to relatives. The look of pride on her grandmother's face was empowering. Linda's love of learning led her to pursue a teaching degree after high school and then at age 49 to obtain an M.S. in Reading. During this time, she attended a conference in California with her husband. Riding the San Diego Wildlife Reserve tram, she listened absently as the announcer described the upcoming newborn giraffe and its mother. As Linda observed this mother and baby, she realized God was giving her the inspiration for her award - winning children's book: Ivan Becomes a Hero. In her classic tale of issues relevant to children, Linda weaves a story with life messages of bullying/rejection, self-acceptance, and celebrating differences using Psalm 139:14 as the uplifting theme. We are "fearfully and wonderfully made" by God for a purpose touches the hearts of every age.
