I was born in Oberlin Ohio and after graduating from Manhasset High School on Long Island, I returned to Oberlin and received a B.A. in English Literature. In 1975, I began writing for the Citizen in Auburn, N.Y. In 1978 I moved to Florida and worked the Sarasota Herald-Tribune where at various times I was a reporter, editorial writer, columnist, community news editor and feature writer. I have played the cello since I was eight and am now teaching myself viola. I married Jim Salisbury in 1989 and we moved to Lake Anna, Va., in 2004, selling our house two weeks before Hurricane Charlie came through our beloved Florida community.Jim and I formed Tabby House, a book-packaging company in 1990.
