I grew up in rural New Hampshire and kept moving West in search of more to read. On my way to my home in western Washington state. I've been a reader of SF and Fantasy for most of my life, and, not surprisingly, ended up studying medieval fantasy at university. My academic area of specialization include medieval English and Celtic languages and literatures, particularly texts about otherworld folk and their interactions with mortals, English literature from 800 to 1832 and the novel. HyperCard seduced me into ebook and multimedia production. I am the first digital medievalist on the Web, working for e-book and multimedia pioneers Voyager, Calliope Media, and Night Kitchen, and helping university faculty incorporate digital technology in their teaching and research. I have worked in software development, ebooks, and multimedia since 1989, principally on the Mac. I've tech edited books on iLife, MS Works, and AppleScript, and contributed to books on iLife and blogging. I write about the iPad and iOS for Peachpit and other publishers. I hand-coded my first Website in 1997. I am the Sys Admin for the largest writing community on the Internet and the Webmaster and Managing editor for the Green Man Review. I've used, installed and administered most blogging/CMS systems, and know the difference between social media and social networking sites. I have been publicly longing for an iPad since 2000.
