Lisa Mannetti's debut novel, THE GENTLING BOX, garnered a Bram Stoker Award and since then she has been nominated four additional times for the award in both the short and long fiction categories: ("1925: A Fall River Halloween"; "Dissolution"; "The Hunger Artist" and most recently for her novella about Houdini, THE BOX JUMPER). Her story, "Everybody Wins," was made into a short film by director Paul Leyden starring Malin Ackerman and released under the title Bye-Bye Sally. "Dissolution" will soon be a feature length film also directed by Paul Leyden (Come Back to Me, The Factory). Recent short stories include, "Corruption," in Nightscapes Volume 1 (September, 2013), the Bram Stoker nominated tale, "The Hunger Artist" in Zippered Flesh II (February, 2013) and a sequel to "Everybody Wins," called "Almost Everybody Wins in the anthology, Insidious Assassins. Forthcoming short stories included "Arbeit Macht Frei" in the anthology, GUTTED: Beautiful Horror Stories (2016) in a sterling line up of authors including Clive Barker, Paul Tremblay, Josh Malerman, John D. Taff, Maria Alexander and more.She has also authored THE NEW ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER AND HUCK FINN (new adult and YA editions from Smart Rhino Publications), two companion novellas in DEATHWATCH, (new edition Nightscape Press, December 2013), a macabre gag book, 51 Fiendish Ways to Leave your Lover, (Bad Moon Books, Feb 2010) as well as non-fiction books, and numerous articles and short stories in newspapers, magazines and anthologies. Her novella about Houdini, THE BOX JUMPER has won the 2015, "This is Horror Award" and has been nominated for both the Bram Stoker and the Shirley Jackson Awards. What can I say about this book, 15 short stories and a poem makes this book a great read. Every story was different but what each one had in common was the way they were all beautifully written, the words just flowed to make such great stories. I liked the first anthology much better. This one seemed like a poor matching of the subject matter. The first anthology was creepier also. There were three stories that were truly creepy to me. But the book held my attention.
