Two things about this cute classic: It makes you incredibly hungry almost every chapter. Which is fitting for a people struggling daily to get, prepare and store enough of it according to the season. Building from the point above, beyond the morality bits, it is quite the how-to manual on surviv...

I didn't read Little House in the Big Woods as a child (I read about half of the Little House series), so I don't have any nostalgic memories of this one. The writing is very inconsistent. The best parts are the food descriptions: churning butter, making cheese, even butchering the pig. The worst pa...

Laura Ingalls and her family live deep in the Big Woods of Wisconsin. Their log cabin is surrounded by miles of trees, and their closest neighbors are bears, wolves, and panthers. Daily chores keep Laura and her sister Mary busy, but they still find time to go exploring with their dog, Jack. (source...

It is interesting to read this book given its classic status. These are the earliest childhood memories of Laura Ingalls Wilder. She is about four to five during the course of the book. It's really only interesting as a work specifically for children. It can introduce children to the realities o...

Hi! I'm now finally going to review the Little House series by Laura Ingalls Wilder, starting with the first one: Little House In the Big Woods. The book is about a little girl named Laura Ingalls who lives in the big wood of Wisconsin with her Pa and Ma (Charles and Caroline Ingalls), her older...

I expect that one of my teachers in elementary school read this to us, probably Miss Hill in 3rd grade. If not, she still gets all the credit, because she was awesome. Then I read it myself along with most (all?) of the other books in the series in 5th or 6th grade. So this was a re-read, albeit aft...

I've always loved the TV show, but I never read the books as a kid. I don't know why, but I'm SO glad that I finally read one of the books and yes, I plan to read the rest. I loved learning about their daily lives in the 1870's, as hard as their lives were, it was just another day to them. Hunting, ...

definitely not my cup of tea. i'm not entirely sure whether i would have enjoyed this book if i'd read it when i was younger, however i thought it was boring and i'm partly glad i didn't spend my time with it while i was little.

I'm not too much of a re-reader, so I would say that I see little to no reason to look at old material that I've read before (well, I AM planning to re-read the Harry Potter series, but you're going to disregard that information) and so normally I wouldn't have had a reason to look at something from...
