Reading the description this book looked interesting with elements I like in a sci-fi story, particularly how first contact will change human life. However I'd put off reading it as I'd heard that the author was very right wing and bashed you over the head with it in the book. Now that's an overstat...
This started getting really hokey about 2/3s of the way in. I mean, it was moderately hokey before that point, but ye gods.
To John Ringo,I'd never read one of your books. I had seen them at the library along with several other bestsellers as books I'd always intended to read but never had. In fact I often have had to resist the allure of their glossy, hard-cover jackets because I had plenty more books to read. Of course...
Except for some nutty political beliefs, this book is quite a fun ride.
