Liver Let Die is the first in the Clueless Cook mystery series. The main character, Jordan, has moved to a small town north of Dallas and writes the personals for the local newspaper after being dumped by her boyfriend. Eager to move up at the newspaper, she agrees to take over the kitchen column ...
3.5 starsThis 3rd book in the series is what got me to read the other two. Let me explain: This book was offered as a free ebook; but it's book #3, and I hate coming into the middle of a story and established characters, so, of course, I bought the 1st two books (clever marketing, eh?) and already ...
I had a hard time getting into this book and I'm going to blame it on the "remote location" nature of the plot. I'm not a fan of the 'away from home' stories and this one just didn't do it for me. The series has likeable, interesting characters, and the plot of the murder mystery was clever and very...
This is about a 6 on my 1-10 grading scale, so 3 stars here on GR. I think I would have liked this more had I not read 2 other cozies in the last 6 months or so that had a murder done the same way as the first one in this book. Still, the quirky characters who are Jordan and her friends made up fo...
A sports writing job would have been the perfect catch for Jordan McAllister, but in Ranchero, Texas, all she could reel in was the food column. Though she may not know her way around a kitchen, she has no trouble finding herself in a kettle of fish…Tempted by the offer of a free Caribbean cruise, J...
I really didn't care much for the first in this series, but this one was a huge improvement! Jordan wasn't annoying in this one and story just sucked me in right away. Too bad Rusty wasn't around a bit longer. Always a pleasure to read about a hot cowboy! LOL RECOMMEND!
A good, solid cozy mystery with lots of possible suspects and a not so obvious ending. All of the characters are likeable although I have to admit, none of them totally clicked with me (hence the 3 1/2 instead of 4 stars). I like Jordan and her cast of friends, the book just didn't suck me in the ...
Jordan McAllister is the food columnist for the Ranchero Globe even though she is a pretty clueless cook. She may not know much about cuts of beef but Lucas Santana, cattle baron, thinks her column may help boost beef sales so he invites her to the Cattlemen's Ball. He even sets her up with a date fo...
Well, I didn't love it. But I didn't hate it either. The protagonist didn't come across very consistently - timid and meek one minute and throwing very smart, sassy, and sarcastic around the next. The rest of the characters were engaging and likeable, and perhaps in the next book the main charact...
Another new cozy series and another that was pretty so-so, IMHO. Couldn't develop any real "feel" for the protag. Sometimes she was just so clueless she was pathetic, and other times she was like a different person. The story wasn't bad, but I didn't see the laugh out loud humor that many have me...
