My experiences so far with Josh Lanyon's short stories and novellas have been pretty hit or miss (mostly miss), but I absolutely ADORED this one! The story had a rich setting (I could hear/see/feel Texas in every scene), strong, complex characters, amazing chemistry, and the perfect amount of angst....
This was a nice sweet story. I think it would have worked better as a longer story where things could have been explained better. At one point I found myself asking, Is this meant to be a paranormal story? For those who have read it, you will probably understand why I was asking that. Something like ...
This story had a TON of potential. The MCs were believable, likable and not carbon copies of characters I have read in other m/m books. Their back story was strong and well developed. The tension building between them was palpable. And here comes the big BUT...But, the story took way too long to ...
This is a lovely holiday novella from Lanyon. The story focuses on professional ballet dancer Mitch, who returns to his Texas hometown under the guise of taking care of his deceased father’s affairs, but is really running from the realization that his lover of several years was cheating on him. But ...
This was a really nice story which was part of a Christmas Anthology. It's fairly short and tells the tale of Mitch, a ballet dancer, who returns from the city to his father's ranch in Texas. His father passed away six months previously but it is only now that Mitch is returning as he needs somewhere...
The only thing I did not like about this book? It was way too short. The writing was compelling and I really wanted to read more about these two. There was a love scene in here that was incredibly touching (actually made me tear-up). We traditionally think of romance books as written by "females"...
3.5/5.0 I enjoyed the story. My only complaint is the use of ya'll. (you all) I live 30 miles from Llano and enjoyed knowing the places he referenced in the story but the use of that word was not true to the region - well not for me anyway. Other than that I think Mr. Lanyon weaves a wonderful tal...
A medium size holiday novella. Too short to get to know the characters and care about them. I would have liked for it to be less in the moment, less actions and a little more character driven. But that's me. I found that I didn't 'know' Wes better at the end nor Mitch. As far as a romance novella it...
