I've loved Maira Kalman's absurd style since Nancy bought Chicken Soup, Boots! back in the 90s. Because this book is presented as a look at Lincoln's image and its saturation in popular culture, I find it a fine postmodern picturebook. There were three, maybe four splendid illustrations in this book. All of them are good and one of them is absolutely breathtaking. The text is warm, informative without being smarmy or stupid- a sin so many nonfiction picture books commit. I'm glad I read it.
