This was the best LJG book that I've read so far. I found out so much about his family relationships and his father's death. Also, he finally had somewhat of a relationship for a bit. I'm a big fan of M/M, but for those that aren't, it wasn't that graphic. I love how he pines for Jamie, but I fe...

I was drawn into this one from the start, although it seemed a little slow at first. The start of this book might have been even slower than the start of the first book, but I have grown use to this world and I had no trouble being drawn into this book in spite of the slow start. I didn't really ...

Lord John and the Brotherhood of the Blade has less mystery than the Private Matter and more character development. I missed the fun from the previous story. Although this is a mystery - the mystery of Lord John's father's death that occurred twenty years ago - it is background to the relationships ...

There were moments when I thouight... thwarted again? But, all in all, I loved this book, flaws and all :) Lord John is a very compelling character to read (and yes, the snippets of Jamie were absolutely wonderful, though very bittersweet)Already started the next book, can't seem to stop.

While I was disappointed in the 1st book in Lord John's spin off (LJ and the Private Matter), I quite enjoyed this 2nd book. I don't know if it was Jamie's appearances, the focus on the death of LJ's father 17 years earlier, the Jacobite/Culloden references, the romance in LJ's life OR a little of a...

Well, we got the buttsex, lol. I was beginning to wonder if throughout this whole series, we'd know Lord John was gay and had attractions, but he'd never actually have sex with someone as part of the story. And I thought Ms. Gabaldon did a pretty good job when it did happen. It wasn't quite explicit...

3.5 starsLord John Grey is still no Jamie Fraser, but it is interesting to read more of this world, and of the way things worked in the 1850's.

3.5 stars. Love the narrator. He does a really good job even with the female characters. I'm only on CD 3 but enjoying the audiobook so far. Romantic M-M sexual situations, so had to put it on pause whenever my daughter is around. The ending was good. It took me awhile to figure out who the vi...
A Scottish-Canadian Blethering On About Books
I dropped away from Diana Gabaldon's main (hetero) romance series after the second or third book, mostly because het romance isn't my thing, and possibly because she shifted the locale to the Americas, while my own initial interest was because of the Scottish setting. ("Outlander", the first book, o...
